Wilma will probably prove to have been a significant event in Cancun, when the skies finally clear and we get a look, but the impact in Florida will be minimal despite a tense and extremely well reported week of anticipation. The security of the homeland would become much easier if the image of the United States as a self-absorbed bully could be replaced with something positive. The Pakistan earthquake gave our country an opportunity to make that country less receptive to Osama's message of hate, but we seem to be letting it slip away. Higher priorities, it seems.
